Yarn Birdy Website Redesign

You may have noticed that Yarn Birdy Blog looks all confusing and convoluted right now. That’s because I’m in the middle of a big (and hopefully beautiful) site redesign. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for months but had been putting off because the whole process made me nervous. I know nothing about either graphic design or website coding and I was afraid something would go wrong -like the site would be ugly and messy for the phase while I work out the new look. Well now, I’ve finally started, and obviously, exactly what I was afraid of totally happened: you’re looking at the mess now! But it’s still okay. In fact, the ugly confusing in-between site status is lighting a fire beneath me to learn website building fast, and get things fixed as quickly as possible.

Just like the first time I picked up my needles and tried to knit, just like the first time I knit a toy, just like the first time I wrote a pattern, building a website that I love is scary and messy and full of challenges. Trying something new always is. But also just like I found with knitting toys and with writing knitting patterns, I know I’m going to come out on the other side of the process having learned a lot, and with a product I’m proud of.

So please bear with me for the next week or two as I embark on this messy process of learning something new.
