My Christmas landscape: Beach Cruisers. Sunlight so bright you have to squint. Miles of golden sand. Since I spend nearly every Christmas in Orange County, this is what Christmas looks like to me.

My parents and I borrowed beach cruisers and went for a long roll along the beach path. I bike a lot, but normally I’m tipped forward, helmeted, pedaling furiously, getting somewhere with speed. By contrast, I loved how slow and lumbering it felt to ride a beach cruiser. It wasn’t biking to get somewhere, it was biking just to be. Although my mom grumbled that she wished she had her road bike, I think my parents got into it too. That’s them riding circles around this asphalt playground, gleeful as kindergardeners out on recess.

What does your Christmas Landscape look like? Sun? Snow? Rain?
