This Giveaway is now over. Random Number Generator picked winner Shannon! Shannon wrote: My favorite decoration is a tiny wooden angel with yellow string hair, red cardboard wings, and a gold star on her dress. My mom said it came as a decoration on a gift a long time ago, but it has been around for as long as I can remember, and I played with her so much her cardboard wings have been reattached multiple times 🙂
I think I should make a knit angel next season!

When I was a little girl, I adored the holiday decorations that my family would  haul out of the attic each December. My favorites were all the little figures of humans, animals, and magical beings, that nestled between the lights and the tinsel. Each figurine, in my imagination, had its own adorable personality. I don’t know if the manufacturers of our eclectic collection of Christmas decorations would have anticipated this, but I loved playing with them all together: I introduced the fat Santa figurine to the three wise men of the Nativity set, to the funny mouse-on-skis ornament hanging from our tree.

A few weeks ago, I designed two little knit dolls, Santa and Mrs. Claus, with my own joyful childhood memories in mind. I made them the perfect size to make special friends with all the other Christmas decorations, or to fit in a youthful hand and be played with. (And I don’t think it’s just my imagination that these two Clauses have adorable personalities.)

Today, I’m opening up a giveaway: one lucky blog reader will win a set of Yarn Birdy’s hand-knit miniature Christmas Dolls.
