The USA’s Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and as American expat, this is the time of year when I start feeling a bit homesick. Did you know that they don’t sell canned pumpkin in Germany? Or pie crust? I’m going to have to make pumpkin pie from scratch this year. I don’t know if I can pull it off.

Much easier is getting into the Thanksgiving mood by knitting up something festive. I wrote this Little Turkey pattern a couple years ago, and I’m going to knit up one, or a couple, this coming weekend. The pattern’s free, the turkey is teeny-tiny, so knits up quick as lightning, and I think the end product is pretty darn cute, so you should knit up one too, if you’d like.

What about you?

I suspect, from the number of ghosty and goblin patterns on Ravelry, that a lot of people knit up a spook or two for halloween. And Christmas ornaments (and goofy Christmas sweaters) offer lots of opportunities to knit up something on-theme in December. But how about Thanksgiving knitting? Maybe we should make Thanksgiving knitting more of a thing!
